This website is run by Central Sofas Limited, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC862513), registered office Gospel Hall, Bentfoot Road, Overtown, ML2 0QE. What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry through the form on this website, we collect your name, phone number and, if you give it, your email address, together with the sofa type, product, delivery area and message you choose to include, and the page you sent it from. We use this only to reply to your enquiry and, if you go on to buy, to arrange your order and delivery. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to customers.
When you buy online, we collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and what you ordered, so we can fulfil and deliver your order and keep the records the law requires. Payments are taken by Stripe on its secure payment page: we never see or store your card details.
If you leave sofas in your basket, either saved to your account or after filling in your details at checkout, we may send you one email a few hours later to remind you they're still there, and never more than one a week. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in helping you finish an order you started. Just reply or contact us if you'd rather not get these and we'll stop.
To protect the form from abuse we record a one-way hashed version of your IP address. We cannot turn it back into your IP address; it is used only to limit how many enquiries can be sent in an hour.
If you contact us on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or by phone, those services have their own privacy policies, and we use what you send us only to reply and help with your purchase.
How long we keep it
Website enquiries are stored securely in our system and automatically deleted 24 months after they were sent. If you become a customer, we keep order records for as long as we are legally required to for tax and accounting purposes.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run this website and take payments: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (sending emails), Stripe (payments) and Google (showing our Google reviews). They process data only on our instructions or under their own terms for the service they provide. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, under appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
Cookies and analytics
The public website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Your basket is remembered in your own browser so it's still there when you come back. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you personally. Staff who sign in to manage the website receive a strictly necessary session cookie.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact us using the details above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
